Library cards
A library card is needed to check-out books or movies or use any of our online services. A photo ID is required to register. Children (anyone under age 18) must have a parent/guardian with a card on file to receive a library card. A library card may be applied for on our Librista app for electronic use. A photo ID will be required when the patron comes into the library to check out materials.

Tot Time
Tot time is every Tuesday starting at 11:30 AM. All children ages 2-PreK are welcome to attend. We read a story, have a craft/activity & snack. Reading is a fundamental part of learning. The earlier a child is exposed to books, the more influential reading will become in their life.
Homeschool
From September to May, our homeschool group meets the first Friday of every month at 11:30 AM. We read a book, explore STEAM projects or do a craft. Any home-schooler is welcome to attend.
LEGO Club
LEGO Club happens the second Saturday of every month @ 2:00 PM. We provide the LEGOs, you provide the imagination! August through November, all the libraries in our region partner with Discovery Park for our LEGO Challenge. Each month winners from each library are chosen. Those winners get to go to Discovery Park on a chosen date to find out the region's monthly winners!
Computer access
Computer access is a free service provided at Newbern City Library. Headphones are required if audio is needed. Access time may be limited if others are waiting. Computers automatically shut off at 15 minutes before closing. No data will be saved on public computers. Wi-Fi is available 24/7 outside the library.
Copy/Print services
Copying/Printing is available for 25 cents per page for black & white, or $1.00 per page for color. We do not offer wireless printing at this time.
Summer Reading Program
Each summer Newbern City Library provides a Summer Reading Program for ages birth - adult. For ages 2 years - 5th grade, we provide a story time & craft each week. Prizes are given for books read. We also try to have performers come to provide different learning opportunities for our children.
TEL
TEL-Tennessee Electronic Library is a great resource for our library. It provides test prep, resume writing, World Book, genealogy, homework help and more. If you need assistance with any of these, TEL is there to help.
READS (LIBBY APP)
READS is our electronic book service. With a library card, you may download books to your computer or download the Libby app to your smart device. READS has books, magazines, videos and more, all for free.
UNIVERSAL CLASS
Always wanted to know how to decorate a cake, read an EXCEL spreadsheet or get your dog to walk on a leash? Well, Universal Class can help with that! There are hundreds of classes on this website ranging from personal development to accounting. All for free!!! A library card is needed for this service.
HOTSPOTS
Hotspots are available for weekly checkout. The patron must have had a library card in use for 60 days with no fees attached to check out a hotspot.
